Fernando Alonso in action at Le Mans

Fernando Alonso will participate in all rounds of the World Endurance Championship this year after a race has been moved to accommodate it.

The two-time F1 world champion is clinching his F1 commitments for McLaren the WEC.

The Japanese race faced the US Grand Prix, but in a sign of Alonso's pulling force, it was moved a week earlier than the F1 race in Texas.

The race for Fuji Speedway will take place on October 14th.

The move was officially requested by Fuji but the track belongs to Toyota, so it actually comes from the team of Alonso.

It is believed that this is the first time that an FIA World Championship has been moved solely to ensure that a driver can take part in it and , as such, demonstrates the remarkable pulling power that Alonso has developed as one of the biggest motorsport stars.

From Alonso's point of view the Spaniard can now aim for victory at the WEC and at Le Mans, as he will participate in all the races. He called this "awesome news" on Twitter.

Toyota said: "Fantastic for our Japanese fans that Alonso can also run in Fuji because of the WEC date changes."

He will compete in 21 grand prizes and six WEC races in 2018.

He is also committed to the three WEC races in 2019, which also counts for the new championship " super season ", as long as it is.

McLaren executive director, Zak Brown, said not to worry about Alonso's workload

"Fernando is very well prepared, knows what. it takes to succeed and he would not have made the extra commitment if he did not think he could do both at the highest level, "Brown said.

"There is no other program than what he wants to do and he wants to win Le Mans."

"What would he do these weekends otherwise? He would not test an F1 car or simulator.

" We have everything we need from him on the front of F1, so these are the weekends he would be in either a kart or golf or whatever he wants to do. He wants to spend his free time in racing cars. "

But Brown pointed out that F1 remains Alonso's top priority.

" While he's going to go and try to win the championship because that's What he does, when one thinks of Fernando, is considered first and foremost as a McLaren Formula 1 driver. "
